Our Story
Hi, I’m David, I'm a entrepreneur from Dublin and the founder of Mussh & Co.
In June 2023, my world was turned upside down when my mum was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. The news was a devastating shock to her and our entire family.
But once the initial wave of fear and uncertainty settled, I knew I had to take action. I threw myself into researching how I could support my mum alongside her treatment.
One thing kept appearing in my research again and again was functional mushrooms and their potential to support brain health, gut health, and overall well-being.
I dove headfirst into the world of functional mushrooms, devouring every book and study I could find.
I then discovered the story of renowned mycologist Paul Stamets and how his own mother used Turkey Tail mushrooms as part of her breast cancer journey. That story struck a chord with me and in that moment, I knew I was on to something truly powerful.
Mums mushroom journey
The months that followed were some of the toughest for my mum. As she went through chemotherapy and losing her hair. During this difficult time, I was determined to find a high-quality mushroom product that we could truly trust to support her health.
However, that search proved harder than expected. Most of the products on the market were either raw mushroom powders that hadn’t been properly extracted or were filled with cheap fillers and questionable ingredients
Refusing to settle for anything less than the best, I spent weeks reaching out to mushroom growers and expert mycologists across Europe, Asia, and the US to source the best ingredients.
Finally a breakthrough
In late August we finally made a breakthrough and make contact with a group of mushroom experts in Europe who produce high quality organic mushroom extracts.
As my mum continued her Chemo she began taking Turkey Tail and Lions mane extract each morning to support her overall wellbeing.
Within 2 weeks of starting the functional mushrooms my mum could notice a difference and had less brain fog.
In addition to this we had her do Hyperbaric oxygen treatment and infrared saunas to help complement her treatment.
Mussh & Co is born
After seeing how difficult it was to find high quality mushroom products and the benefits my mum experienced, I decided I had to do something.
Over the next 12 months I worked on bringing Mussh & Co to life. I wanted to create something which people could trust and give them true value for money.
In April of 2025 we launched our range of Organic Mushroom drops made with only the highest quality natural ingredients which are made in our state of the art manufacturing facility in Co Wicklow, Ireland.
At Mussh & Co our mission is to unlock the natural power of functional mushrooms for both pets and people.
Mum's recovery
Im very glad to say now 18 months on my mum has finished all of her treatment and now made a fully recovery.
She has had a new lease on life, is now fitter than ever and even started in the gym
Here hair is finally growing back and getting ticker by the day.
Every morning, she starts her day with a cup of coffee, always with a dose of Turkey Tail and Lion’s Mane mushrooms mixed in.
